DAMAGER CUP RESULTS

This weekend Dio “2rare2live2rare2die” Crozier-John travelled up to Auckland for New Zealands final tournament, and the close out of all Street Fighter 5 events.

Throughout the year players can qualify for Damager Cup by placing well and winning local ranking battles(ranbats) in many areas or New Zealand. Dio qualified from Wellington after winning multiple ranbats, along with Ajay “Reapyourface” Ward who qualified in the second part of the year from Wellington.

Both players went up to Damager Cup, and represented Wellington as a strong location in SFV.
Dio had Cubt in his match of the day, which he had previously lost to at Red Bull Kumite so it was sure to be a tough fight. First and second games went both ways in both players favour, it came down to the final game and it was looking dire for Dio with Cubt on the offensive and at match point. Amazingly he brought it back with a few clutch plays to win the final game.

Next up he had Skyyfall, who Dio previously defeated at Southern Crossup 2018. Skyyfall was on a tier this weekend and after a hard fought battle, Dio was put down to loser bracket.

From here he made an astonishing run, through many strong players up to losers semi finals where he was pitted against some of the best in the country including his great friend IsaacfromDC. Zarzob, the winner of Redbull Kumite, put a stop to his run and ending up in 4th place.

An overall great performance from our player this year cementing his place as one of the top 8 Street Fighter 5 players in New Zealand. We can only see this improving and he will no doubtable get that win in a coming tournament!
